about the work

My work explores the relationship of the objectified body and the felt self, the intimate, the “natural”, wildness. We live in layers— internal, external, personal, cultural, perceptual, experiential. I layer substrates to materialize these layers and the ambiguous spaces in between.

I work in a wide range of media. Over the past several years I have developed new models of interdisciplinary practice, combining multiple media in single works, which may contain painting, textiles, light, electronics, and/or animation in tactile constructions.

Since 2019, I have been dividing my time between New York and California, painting my discreet immersions in small vignettes. I use simultaneous groupings to reconnect and conjure the impossible beauty of nature from a long-distance, urban POV, using trees and other flora as figurative analogues.
